Summer Break Art Work
Technically, back in Ohio, summer break has already begun. However, now that we are living in California, I get to pretend like the amount of homework I'm giving my daughter is apart of the school year. I already explained to her that she would still be doing school work this summer. I am trying to find a more creative schedule so she is free to do more things with friends who won't be doing school work for three months.
Today after we did Math, Time, Spelling and Grammar we had some fun doing art. Amirah and I reused a Nike shoe box. We turned it inside out, clipped the flaps off and taped the top to the bottom. After that she painted the box and added ears and a tail with construction paper. Now she will keep the mailbox in her room and we can put letters in it for her. For most parents, the summer days can seem long and tedious. My only advice is to let your children sleep in. Also have some educational review for them to work on for a couple hours. Spend time outside so they can run around and release energy. Come home, take baths, relax with books, and then some short television time. Before you know it, they will be in bed and you will regain some form of sanity.
