Getting Ready For Baby
Getting Ready For Baby
So I’ve been back in Cali for almost a week now. As soon as I got home I unpacked my clothes and washed them, and then woke up and unpacked the rest of the house. I often wonder if I will stay so diligent with two children. I know people told me once I had my first daughter that I wouldn’t have time to be so organized. However that was the complete opposite, and I’ve always found that the more organized I am, the less stressed I become. Thinking ahead and just getting task out of the way keeps my house clean and my stress levels down. My daughter is in Ohio for the next two weeks and I can’t believe it will actually have been three weeks without her. I face-time her twice a day and miss her so much. I would be lying though if I didn’t say I was enjoying this time to nest and get the house together without interruption.
We literally had a basinet and some onesies as of like two days ago. I went and got some diapers and wipes to make myself feel more prepared. I think because we had so much stuff that we didn’t use with our first daughter that it is making us second-guess buying things this time around. Having a second child seven years later is such a surreal experience. It has been just the three of us for so long that it feels strange bringing in a new family member. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. One of the things I’m most excited about is watching my baby girl become a big sister. Her excitement and attention to detail has shown me who she is as a person. I think there are certain moments in life that let you know what type of person your child will be. As soon as she found out I was pregnant my daughter just wanted to help. She wanted to learn all about babies so that she could be the best big sister ever. This alone makes me feel good about extending our family and watching my daughter help be a positive influence in her sister’s life.
When I was about six months I was gifted this amazing bassinet and basket from @Shoplovdua (www.DesignDula.com) . I love the fact that it came directly from Gahanna and was handmade with love. We decided not to do a crib this time because we never put Amirah in a crib when she was little. For me breastfeeding was much easier when I just kept my daughter next to me. By the time she was one year old I purchased her a regular bed, so her crib never got much use. I’m excited to use the bassinet and it’s much easier to move from room to room verses an actual crib anyway. I’ll share some more products I’m going to use for our baby in the next coming articles. One of them is this amazing breast pump that I can't wait to use, trust me I hand pumped the last time for an entire year. The electric pump I have now will save me lots of time and less bruises.
Isn't this basinet beautiful, I can't wait to put my little girl in it and take five million pictures of her.
