Traveling Without Amirah →
I can't remember the last time Chea and I did something without Amirah in the last four months. There was only reason I didn't want to move and that reason was my mother. However it's much more inexpensive to fly her to California every other month instead of all three of us flying back to Ohio.
One of the benefits of having my mother in town is the ability to have free time. My days usually consist of me homeschooling my daughter, sitting outside with her while she plays with friends, cooking, and taking care of Amirah. I stay up really late at night most days working on my own projects until about 4am. So whenever my mother comes in town she helps me homeschool Amirah, that gives me a chance to work during the actual daylight and I can actually go to bed at a normal hour.
Recently Chea had to travel to Northern California for his job, instead of all of us going I was able to go and spend some much needed alone time with my fiancé. We didn't do anything special or go anywhere crazy, but the ability to have some time to myself was very necessary. Anyone who knows me knows how important being a mother is to me and how seriously I take that title. The important take away from this trip is I need to make more time for myself and make sure I create a better balance in my space. At the end of the day if you are blessed with helpful parents such as myself, utilize their help. There is no shame in taking time to yourself, you exist outside of your titles and responsibilities.
